After having worked with italian cooking in our restaurant and enoteca for more than 11 years, the love for Italy and everything italian was getting too strong. We wanted to be closer to the country, to be able to pick those 2 perfect artichokes for dinner and to get to know the guy, who made the tasty pecorino...We found the perfect house on the historic walls of the medieval town of Todi in southern Umbria - an old mill, which have been converted into our little B&B with 3 double rooms and our cooking school.
After spending more than 20 years in the hospitality industry both in kitchens and front of house, we wanted to be able to get to know our guests better, more than just for a few hours during a dinner service. So what better way to do that, then to invite guests into our private home and together we can share all the joys and glories of "la dolce vita" in our small town.
All rooms in the house, both bed rooms and communal rooms have been designed individually - our big interest in great designs from all over the world, has been very useful, and we have tried to add a little something extra in each area of the house, being a design icon, fabrics or textures - but everything in a light and airy atmosphere - we just want you to feel at home.
In our cooking school we have the opportunity to share our great joy for italian cooking. People always ask us, what we cook and which dish is our speciality....the answer is not easy...we tend to cook very simple and seasonal dishes - some might take a few minutes to put together while others slowly cook in the oven for hours. The foundation is very classical - a bit of a rustic and country feel to the dishes - but done in a more modern and light way.
When planning a menu or a cooking course - we always start with a trip to the market or the local "fruttivendolo" the veggie pusher - just to get the feeling of the season, what is there to get, should we wait with artichokes and fava beans or should we just stuff the basket with these beauties. Many of our dishes are based on the vegetables in season - from there we then decide on the different fish, birds or meat.
We are happy to organize individual cooking courses or you could join one of the already planned corses in our cooking calendar on the web site. These courses are from 3 to 6 days - packed with foodie experiences, visits to local producers, laughter, talk, recipes and lots and lots or joyful cooking.
Join us in bella Umbria for some memorable days.
Carissimi saluti
